Category: Getting to Know You
HI all.
I hope you find this topick interesting. I think it would be good to see what do you choose to have when your mobile phone rings. Is it a song, is it something instrumental, is it a sound?
Also do you asign different tones to individuals like partner or something? Let us know.
I wasn't sure if i should put this in accessible electronicks or getting to know you but i think it should be ok here.
I have a song by Loreena MCKenit called between the shadows as a general tone and the tutenstein theme tune when my 10 year old brother rings me. Also for my grandmother i have one of her favorite songs when she rings me.
So have fun with this topick and i look forward to get your answers.
I have a n instromental tune. It is a jazzy piano tune. I use it for my alarm clock to. I don't have different tunes for different people. It is a nockia n 73. It has talks on it. I just bought it recently
I use just the Nokia ring for general incoming calls and have particular rings for certain people. For example, for anyone on my son's soccer team, the ring tone is a crowd cheering. My oldest son recently started driving, so his ring tone is a car beeping. I had a cute little ring tone for my husband, but he said it sounded gay. He was funny and hounded me about it for forever. I teased him that he was being a dick about it. (Sorry, nasty, I know.) So, I looked for a ring tone that would capture that whole event. So, I found a rooster sound--rooster = cock = dick...anytime anyone hears it they do a double take and then ask why in the world I have a rooster crowing for Sean's ring--I usually just shrug. For any numbers related to where I teach, the ring is children laughing. Different friends have certain rings. I used to have different rings so that I would know who was who before I had Talks on my phone, because I couldn't see the caller id. Now I just have them on there to be fun. Oh, I have a few that I had friends record themselves talking. So, it'll be my friend saying, "Hurry up, pick up the phone, it's me Amber..." or whatever cute/witty/obnoxious thing they have chosen to record for me to use" I've never downloaded any music ones of particular songs, although I do use some of the preprogrammed ones. Sorry you asked? Oh, my mother-in-law's ring tone is a coo coo clock--need I say anymore?
i'm not sure if I an set up different ringtones for different people, so I've used just one of those really annoying high-pitched ones. It's not exactly a ring. lol I'm sure I'll be able ot hear it if I"m in a crowded room or something.
Thanks all for sharing. I like the new phones with mp3s but i have to say that i miss the composition feature that old phones used to have such as the nokia 3310 and 3330 even if the compositions were monophonick they were something funn to do. I used to compose a lot when i had my 3330. It was a good way to pass the time. And then i could send them to my friends lol.
I usually try to use as formal a ringer as I can, as I am in public quite a lot, and don't want something obnoxious. I'm pretty conventional.
I have an LG4650 that comes with a bunch of preprogrammed tunes and other sounds. I just use the preprogrammed ones rather than downloading special rin tones. With these phones you have the choice of having the caller's phone number announced or a song, so I prefer the music. I make a point of setting up the two Christmas songs that are available for this time of year. But I don't put certain ring tones with certain people. It's all random.
Speaking of inappropriate ring tones, the UPS delivery man came into the lobby of where I work once, and his phone went off. It was a loud male voice saying "Answer the fucking phone" over and over again. He apologized profusely, but even though it made me laugh, I wanted to ask why he had such an offensive ring tone when he was in public all the time.
I've got the Star Trek: The Next Generation theme as my general ring tone, and for numbers i don't ever want to hear from, i've got the t-mobile jingle. all others I can just check the caller ID.
Hmmm! I select different ringtones for various different numbers/people in my phonebook, so when mum rings me, she gets one of three Mika songs, usually Grace Kelly, for the default ringer, I also have Love Today or Big Girls by Mika, for Kay (Narcissa Malfoy on here) I have Smile by Lily Allen, my next door neighbour's ringtone is oo, can't remember the name of it, but it's about track 8 or 9 on No.68, it's similar to that Body Rockers song anyway, for the wardens in my hall of residence here, I just have a normal phone ringing sound, for my friend Zoe, I have this sparkly tinkly sort of ring ring sound Etc Etc. I think there're a few more, but I can't remember them right now, lollol.
Jen.
My ringtone is doorbell. lol, it's the same for everyone who calls me.
What a fun topic!
For my mom's mobile, I have the Boston Legal theme song. For her home phone, it's some annoying electronic sound...lol!
For my sister, it is an old fashion telephone ringing, because she doesn't like cell phones.
For my partner, it is Love Me with all your heart, or a jazzy Christmas song.
For my niece, it's a cute twinkle dance song.
For my brother it is Frank Sinatra, come dance with me.
For my dad it is the yellow rose of texas, though I'm currently looking for deep in the heart of texas.
Hey, I like the idea of having friends record their own ringtone! Hehehehe, I'll have to do that!
Oh, for message alerts, I have an old car horn.
A Celtic Fc ringtone I love it
Stevie
I just use one of the ringtones that's already on my mobile phone.
i use the newcastle united entrance music, when they come on the pitch
I've various ring tones, most of then downloaded, and I do program ones for different people.
I guess I'd have to say my default ringer is Who knew by pink.
my default ring tone for now is here's to you by rascal flatts but i often change it. the intro music of super liam for sms lol. for the alarm clock ring tone i have a magic song that an angel wrote for me. a toilet flushing for the people i rather not talk to, a happy cute music for one of my best friends, a scream like a horror movie for a guy that makes you want to go talk with a tree to have a bit of interesting conversation
Now for the christmas period i have an instrumental piece by Mike Oldfielt called In Dulci Jubilo. I don't know if this is written for christmas but it is a very happy tune and i find it very appropriate for this time of the year.
Hmmmmm, now ringtones. What an interesting idea. I find them to be rather superfluous. They are so easy to make and it's amazing how much people pay for them. I don't really have a default as I change them just as soon as a new song that I like comes out.
I do happen to find this topic interesting, considering that, admittedly, I tend to be a bit more obsessive about ringtones than most. Generally, I tend to gravitate toward more professional-sounding ringtones, especially those which sound like actual phones, and, in fact, a friend and I have been on "the quest for the perfect ringtone(s)" in this respect for quite some time now. In addition, I do have some tunes which I use as ringtones as well (a song with the digits of pi, a song made up of phone tones, some Pat metheny music, etc). I have assigned certain rings to specific people, a process which often takes longer than it should since I try and match people with the best corresponding tone. I still can't seem to decide on a default, in large part because I have so many tones which I want to use, and therefore finding myself changing both my default and custom tones quite often. Over time, I have accumulated a rather large collection of MP3, .wav and MIDI tones of all varieties, so feel free to contact me if you are looking for anything in particular.
My default ringtone is the opening song to an anime called Hell Girl. Right now I'm only using one ringtone for everyone because I can just check the caller ID and see who it is.
I thought about putting a frequency sweep on my phone. Now that'd be interesting.
Before I had a phone with talking caller ID, I had a sighted friend help me set up different ring tones for different people. Now, since I have an LG phone, I just have it announce the caller. I kind of miss the musical ring tone, but I'd rather know who is calling me. LOL.
While not all of us, have been blessed with the ability/knowledge to make ring tones, I find that downloading them isn’t so bad either.
*sarcastic smile*
Well, I have a lot of them, most of them I made. I have an emergency alarm for when my friend shawna, a k a battle star queen because she always says her calls are ergent. I have a race car for my dad because he loves racing, I have a koo koo clock for one of my cousins, I used to have a voice that said warning: warning. Mom calling, do not answer for my mom's ring tone, just to be funny.. I just love ring tones!
I use the 9 to 5 ringtone that I had to buy, but it' OK.
I just use the default one/s that came with my phone. But if I were to really choose, it would be something from rebetika or something patriotic. But I wouldn't choose the Hellenic national anthem because I'd have to stand up every time my phone rang. lol
I just use the one on the phone, yeah.
Well, I have a new Nokia N96 now and I use two home-made ringtones, one for the ringtone, one for the message alert. The ringtone is Lily Allen's "not fair, lol, or Petshop Boys's Love Etc. For the message tone, I have the most gorgeous four-legged friend in the world yelling at the top of his lungs, lol. I just caught it on the Olympus when he saw something outside one day and didn't think much of it, lol, it was just so classic, it became my message tone, lol
Jen.
I make my own ringtones, and they change so fast I couldn't even begin to list them here. Anytime a new song comes out that I like, I turn it into a ringtone.
I am using an old phone, a nokia 6310. I just have a general ringring sound
i want to change my ringtone, i want to get viva la vida by coldplay, or mocking bird by eminem. :)
I have different ringtones for everyone.
I've an n82, so I use various ringtones, but for my message alert, it's my cat, George meowing something that sounds a lot like mamma. He's very expressive. lol
My main ringtone is Apoligize by Timbaland. I also have different ringtones for different people. I need to get more, so some of them will change soon.
hmm, on my N82, its Nova,
and me message tone is just message4 which was taken from an N97.
Right now, my de falt tone is get here by Oleta Adams.
Hmm well for now my main ringtone is I Stay In Love by Mariah Carey...all my contacts have assigned ringers. I think its better that way, hearin the same ringer gets kind of borin, lol. Oh and i have the song Always Be Down by Rob G. ft. Natalie for text alerts.
hmm, right now, mine is wakeing the demon buy bullet for my valentine
but i change often cause i make my own ringtones.
Currently, it's Epica's "Cry for the Moon", though that will probably change soon. I tend to change my tone weekly because there are so many I want to use. I like people to know who I am and the ringtones people use are a testament to that. So, the songs I choose are my favorites. I would set different tones for different people but if my phone is capable, I haven't figured out how.
I have a basic Nokia 2610, and I use the plain ring-ring. I dislike music on phones; I want my phone to sound like a phone! I really wanted an old phone ringer, the mechanical bell sound, but apparently you can't send rings to this phone. I'm not sure I'd know how to do it, even if it were possible. I hope to be able to figure it out with my next phone, although I have no immediate plans to switch. My phone's a slim little candybar style, and I prefer those, even if it means fewer options.
I use a combination of music tones created from favorite songs, audio files of nature sounds such as birdsong, and just about everything between those two extremes. generally when transferring tones to my phones in the past, I've used either bluetooth, or the included cable, and this will be no different when the iPhone happens for me, say of the addition of i'Tunes into the mix. I also have different tones for different contacts; did so in fact both when I used phones running talks as well as Mobile Speak pocket.
i had, at one time the exact ringer you're looking for prism, I'll have a look around and see if I can find it and pass it to you if you'd like.
I use the ringersfor the IPhone. etc. i love it!!!
My default ringer is Enter Sandman by Metallica. For Coast Guard calls it's "If Today was you're last Day" by Nickelback.
My wife has an electronic ringer, and my daughter is "What I've Done" by Linkin Park.
Oh and I have a fart ringtone for one particular friend, and Korn's "Freak on a Leash" for another somewhat henpecked friend.
I made a clip of the intro to "Black Balloon" by the Goo Goo Dolls because I always thought it would be a good ringtone. If someone I don't know is calling me, or I haven't bothered to assign a friend a special ringtone, that's what plays.
Mine is the original Twilight Zone theme.
